thank you i will
our set up 55 gal picked up from someone tank was running but had black alge over most of the tank and rock I picked up all the water as well. We scrubbed off the tank and cured?(hosed off the rock with garden hose and let it sit in the sun for a week) the rock.
We then picked up a wet/dry sump with bioballs and a bag of live sand. I put the live sand in the tank and am running the sump as well with a protein skimmer. For a pump we picked up a 1000 GPH for the return and 2 power heads 1 300 GPH AND A 150 GPH .
My question is did i put the live sand in the right place?

Come on over to the marine forums and ask as many questions as you want. Sounds like you may have put the live sand in with the bioballs? It should have gone in the display tank or the fuge if you have an area for one in your sump.
