I got a green striped mushroom about three months ago and it has been doing great. A couple of weeks ago it shifted its position on its rock. I originally had it in a small cave to protect it from my bright lighting. I guess it decided it liked the bright lighting and left some presents in the after math of its move. Now I have two baby mushrooms. However they appear to be a pinkish color, rather than striped green. Will they change to their parent color once they grow larger? Also, how in the world are they growing? The first picture was taken during lights out, however you will notice once the light is turned on in the second picture the parent mushroom completely blocks the light. I definitely didn't intend for him to grow so large. He has tripled in size.

typically with the baby mushrooms, they have a tendancy to be more transparent or opaque...so it is at times hard to figure out if they will look like the parent. In almost all cases...they will, they just need to mature.

Thats good to hear. I prefer the green mushrooms over the red/pink. I already have a red mushroom that hitchhiked on some live rock.

wow thats a big shroom

lol I thought mine looked larger than the others at the LPS. I was thinking about fragging it soon, but I will wait and make sure the babies gain their parent color. I don't want to loose a pretty shroom since this would be my first try at fragging.

And I have a small side question to anyone who can answer. Why do some mushrooms grow in size while others create colonies?

I'm pretty sure they all will colonize given the right conditions, yours seems to be very happy so....
