My GF has two goldfish which seem to be sick and not doing so well. The red spots you see in these pics were never there before today.. Anyone know what it may be and how to treat it? Is it some kind of rash or maybe a parasite??
help :(

Are there any other symptoms? A change in behaviour, are they swimming oddly or rubbing their bodies against the gravel or ornaments?

looks like a bad skin reaction, possible to toxins in the water. can you test your water and tell us the levels for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate? does your GF ever change the fishes' water? did you recently add any new decorations to the tank?

Nothing was added to the tank recently and she doesn't have any testing materials.. I think it may be a reaction to water temperature being on the rise now in the summer but I am not really sure..
The fish arent swimming very much today and mostly laying on the gravel.. I know thats not a good sign..

looks to me as the fish are suffering from toxins in the water and without a test kit, my suspicions are even higher. I would make daily water changes and suggest that she make a trip to the LFS for a kit. You may have an ammonia/nitrate problem. Whqatever the case, water changes can only help.
Do a water change.. and definitely buy testing products.. looks like sores could be a bacterial infection. i suggest you buy medication for bacterial infection and parasites to treat this problem.

Make sure the test kit is a good liquid type like the API master kit, vice the inaccurate dip strips.
