Died on 2 and 7... 2 I have zero reason to care and 7 isn't a correct question anyway...

For one - they didn't specify marine or freshwater... different bacterias are present in each.

Secondly- nitrification is defined as:

The chemical process in which a nitro group is added to an organic compound (or substituted for another group in an organic compound). The oxidation of ammonium compounds in dead organic material into nitrates and nitrites by soil bacteria (making nitrogen available to plants). The conversion of [[ nitrogen from inorganic to organic by [[nitrate bacteria, which effectively recycles the substance so that it can be used again by plants via [[root uptake

So there would only be two conversions, meaning only two bacterias. The third bacteria would be performing de-nitrification.

Of course, there's a chance I could be completely and utterly wrong, but I'm posting anyway...

I got 70% due to the flying and saltwater fish questions.

Don't you think the answer to the one below should be "cycling" and that NTS is an issue, not a time period?

Question 9: Incorrect. The term "new tank syndrome" refers to: the time required to establish a culture of nitrifying bacteria in a new aquarium.

Nah, I thought the test was pretty easy. You just have to carefully read the questions and all the possible answers. Remove the answers you know to be wrong then choose the most logical answer. :)

The speed of the flying fish nailed me.
me too. fish speed should be measured in knots, not mph

Slappy*McFish
08-06-2007, 4:43 PM
Yeah, the flying fish one was a bit tricky. I was torn between 35mph and 30 knots. 30 knots = 34.6 mph. I decided to go with 35 mph, as I figured most animal speeds are probably measured using mph rounded to the nearest whole number. Knots are normally used with ship speeds and wind speeds in relation to nautical miles. Tricky question, but I still guessed none the less.
