I was just on a board for plants, and there was a guy posting every minute or two - took up the whole new posts page - and his postings all had links - I, like an idiot, clicked on one - OMG - PORN!!!! hard core porn - I reported the post, and PM'ed the moderator, and NOTHING HAPPENED to his postings - they are still there!!!!! And the mod didn't even answer my PM....
We should be grateful that we have mods that care what gets posted here.
thanks guys - I know my daughter is safe browsing here, because you keep it that way - great big hugs to you all

I always try to report indecent posts, I've seen a few but the speed with which the mods jump on it is pretty impressive, I know that my brother (13) and a few of his friends have accounts here, they shouldn't be exposed to it on a site about fish of all places...

Waking up in the early monring and surfing ac in the dawn I've spotted quite a few very bad posts indeed. I can always find a mod on, and they always kill the post within minutes of it being reported. We got the best mods on the net!

We always try to do our best to catch all incorrect postings on AC, and they are usually removed pretty quickly from when they are posted..However, there is always going to be time when one slips through the net, and its great that we have people who also report these to us...
Its all down to great communication....
Good deal

Since mods are not punching a time clock here, I am sure there are times when there's not a mod scanning the boards for dirty posts. This is a big board with loads of traffic, and the mods here are volunteering their time and energy to provide us a place to talk about our hobby. Helping to run anything like this online is more taxing than imaginable to someone who has never done such. It's often quite a thankless job. All they can do is their best, but they can't stay on 24/7 to watch out for your child. That's your job.
I would like to thank all the mods too. In my 7 months or so here I've only seen 1 post with an inappropriate link and it was killed within an hour. Thanks for looking out for ALL of us but especially the youngins.
You guys rock:clap:

yep, the mods here are the best :)
I joined another fishy site, and left about 2 days later, I got rude replies from the mods when I reported porn, and said it would be alot easier if they'd just get more mods, but they said no. they blamed me when I said my 5 yo neice came across one of the threads with porn. :irked:

:y220e: Yup, AC Mod's do a great job keeping this site family friendly. Haven't stumbled across anything questionable yet. And I've signed on a few times in the wee hours of the morning and there are always Mod's about. Keep up the great work guys! :headbang2:

I also commend the Mods for doing a great job. I've seen posts selling cell phones quite a few times and the mods trash it within an hour every time. They also "kindly" reminded me to stop avoiding the bad word filter. lol....

I understand that they are not on 24/7 but the mod I contacted was online and actively posting - I realize that it is my job to watch out for my child, but I can't stand over her shoulder every second she is on the web. I think I have the right to be able to consider a website safe or not. I know that this one is well moderated, and I allow her to be on this site because of that.
I was thanking the mods on AC, not slamming them. If you are offended because I found the other website unacceptable for my daughter, I'm sorry. But she will not be allowed to browse that site at all. We should have a reasonable right to expect safety in family/hobby oriented sites.

I do agree with what you have said there Megakitty...
We do all work quite hard and put in many many hours to ensure that AC stays clean of Trolls disrupting things, bad language, spam, pornographic content...
Its one of things we ( Aquaria Central ) pride ourselves in, is promoting a "family orientated " enviroment...some sites are also very good with it too..however, some only care about certain aspects...each to their own as we say....
