i know i know i know this is very opinonated and many people do and many people dont like em but my ? is should i get one?...a gentleman in my reef club is selling one of the "twist" ones for 20 bucks...i havent heard nething back from on details hes just getting rid of everything and i saw he had one for 20 bucks....the cheapest one of that brand is for up to 75 so its a deal either way....now i know i could probably just research it but where do i use it? i put it in the sump right? how does it work? and i know u arent supposed to use it all the time just every so often...so main ? is should i get it?

$20 is a deal. I'd use one on a QT or on the display if there was a problem. In order for it to work the water has to be run through it...kind of like a canister filter but of course in a different configuration.

Ask him when the bulb was replaced and how long the current one has been running. You have to replace the bulbs every 6 months, so it could turn out to be a $60 purchase total.
