Hello Folks!
My name is Chad Mandry. I'm from Texas and currently have a 100gal, 13gal(Eclipse), and desktop Beta, all FW tanks. The 100gal has some cichlids, 1 bala, and 3 Red Tails. My Eclipse has 1 angel fish. I just recently joing this site because I'm wanting to go with some live plants :help: in the 100gal and the 13, so I am observing everyone elses setup. I saw the Mug thread, so I'll torture y'all with my pic when I get home from work to post one:silly: .

Thanks RBishop, anyway one of the mods could change my username? I meant to type ChunkyMonkey, but my anxious fingers threw in a "w."

those pics are a little older, but what's not shown in the 100gal are the Red Tailed Black Sharks, two Convicts, and one Rhino Pleco.
Welcome aboard... your cat looks frustrated as if it were saying "why do tasty looking fish have to live in water... I hate water."

Thanks guys...Que, I agree....Everytime he hears the food can come out for the fish, he's hauling *** down the hallway to the tank...lol. I made the mistake one day of leaving the fish food out on the counter. I came home and it was empty. Oreo was just smirkin' away.

Thanks RBishop. Any way a mod can change my username for the mistake I made? It was supposed to be ChunkyMonkey, but I was typing too fast I guess and threw a W instead of the E.....

Thx, just picked up some live plants today at the LFS. Water should be settled by the time I get home from work in about 8 hrs....I'll snap some and post up in the photo section as well. I was surprised by the change in attitude the plants gave the fish. The Convicts and Red Tails dove right in the green, cool to see them use it. I'm going to change it around some to make their little hole in the grass nearer to the glass so you can see him hangin' out.

welcome to our Community! hope you like our site.
As for planting the 100g cichlid tank, you might have some trouble. cichlids are known for having tendancies to rearrange everything (uproot). You might have some luck with floating surface plants, or stuff secured to rocks or driftwood.
good luck!

Thanks folks! Black Wolf, here's my current setup:

Plants have been in 4 or 5 days now without becoming a 60 dollar salad, lol. The bit you see floating is stuff I didn't bury deep enough and immediately floated up as soon as I pulled my hand out. The Red Tails and the Yellow Lab really enjoy hiding in the left corner now. I did it so there is an open pocket next to the glass. Pretty neat watchin' them. It's my first time with live plants. I'll be going to the LFS for some fert in the pm thursday. I'm not too sure what else I'll be placing in the tank, suggestions are more than welcome of course!
