Can a small GSP (Tetraodon nigroviridis) be kept temporarily in freshwater until I can raise the specific gravity?

What should the specific gravity be for them?

Do they require snails or will they eat other foods?
 
I just know some stuff about dp's but from wat I understand all puffers need snails to eat. I think they should it blood worms but not positive..Hope this helps a lil.

<How soon would that be? Most are sold in FW & so the tank should be cycles as a FW tank. For the best health & well-being of the puffer, it is best to raise hte SG weekly, until desired SG is met (no more than .002/week.>

<For a juvie, 1.005-1,008 is good.>

<Snails are a great teeth trimmer but I haven't fed them very often to my puffers.
