I have four silver dollars right now, and I was thinking about adding one or two more. My LFS has red hook silver dollars which are nice looking, but my question is will they school with the regular silver dollars?

Also, I think that I remember seeing/reading that the red hooks get larger then the regular silver dollars, is this true? I have found info on the net and everywhere says different (from 4" to 10"). How bid do they really get?

I kept red hooks and silver dollars together, but I bought them at the same time. I never noticed any problems with them and the red hooks may have been a bit larger, but it wasn't really much differnce......I only had them for about 14 months (traded them in so I could have a planted tank) I only had 5 all together and they pretty muched stuck with each other most of the time.

Thanks. I have 4 silver dollars right now in a 75 gallon. So maybe I will just leave it as is. The 75 is a long tank, so it is 5 feet long and 18" wide so it does provide a pretty big footprint for them.

most 75s are 4'x18" unless its custom tank:D

I special ordered it. It is 60" long X 18" wide x 16" tall. I thought that the extra foot would be beneficial to the fish that I want to keep. My Oscar doesn't seem to mind that it is shorter in height. I think he would rather have the extra foot in lenght. It is also better for my floor since it is on a second story. The tank is made by tru-vu acrylic tanks. :)

Yeah, so far so good. There are only a few minor scratches in the tank, but they are all from me moving things around. I was very careful when selecting a pleco for the tank too. I know that the royals in particular can scratch acrylic tanks. I chose the acrylic tank for a few reasons:
1. I really like the look of the rounded corners and no visible seam.
2. I liked the black background that you can get and it stays better then painted glass.
3. It is lighter (not much, but couldn't hurt when putting it on a 2nd story)
4. It is a little more leak proof then the glass (which is important when you live in a condo and a leak could possibly damage someone elses condo, as well as your own)

BUT it does scratch :( Oh well.

Thanks for all your advice.

Dont get me wrong I'd trade you my new 90 and 65 for a new acrylic:D but seen many choose the wrong fish (eric shudders)for their new show tank.

Is it ok for me to add a few more silver dollars to the tank that are significantly smaller than the one i currently have?
