Oh no, I'm so sorry! Chances are good that he was sick when you bought him.

ehhh...it sucks...it really does its my first loss....and i just got him too... but i talked to the fish store and hes covered under the 5 day guarntee so hopefully i can get the gold head goby this time instead of the watchman....we shall see....its one of the sad things about this hobby

Yes I know. It is hard in the fish store too. Part of job in the morning is to record the fish deaths :(

edited to add: the one good thing I see when someone has a loss in their tank is how much the people in this hobby really care. It is really touching to see the good in people.

Hey Emo.. I've been thinking about you this evening.. I hope you are doing ok. I remember when I lost my tank.. I was crushed. Kept me out of salt for 2 years just keep your chin up..

I don't want to take from this thread, but did your water change go ok? Or did you just scrap that after the goby died?

lol no im not that bad...lol the s/n dosent mean im an emo child lol just rhymes....i wasnt crushed just a little upset....i had my FW aquarium for almost 2 years and right before i went to basic my mom (who was supposed to take care of it) killed everything....so i know what its like to lose fish.... i didnt have him for too long so i didnt get too attached...once i get these mated percs i will b really upset if something happens to them cause they are the fish i really really want...the watchman was just a cheap fish i thought was cool....so yea unfortuante yes crushing no..thank u very very much for your concern...all of you...u guys are like a small family here ...its great

edit: yea water change went great...i had a friend help me lift the bucket so i could get all the water in at once ...im gonna test it tommorrow when i have a little more time and the water has "mixed" well lol

One of the things I use is a power head to move the water up to the tank.. Take the siphon hose apart put the power head in the bucket and it moves the water up.. NO LIFTING involved.. (I actually use it to move it across a room though).. Fits real nice over a python hose.

Edit: BTW I never thought you were an EMO kid..

Yeah, goby's are notoriously easy to kill. They can come in sick and you'll just not know it until they kick.

That's why a good QT session is good. You can see how it's doing, even apply medicine if necessary, before they can hide in your rockwork.

I'm sorry for the loss of your fish, but it is good news that the waterchange went well.

Keep up the good work. The bad things happen to us all. You just have to keep your head high and keep trying.

well i took the other fish back and picked up a gold head sleeper goby or yellow head whichever u prefer....sadly i still dont have a qt tank set up so i acclimated him for a n hour or so and again like the last one he swam around for a few minutes or so and dover into the live rock and havent seen him in 10-15 minutes....so hope all goes well...i hope him and my sanity are in everyones prayers lol (add me to winning the lottery tonight in that prayer as well lol) but my problem is when i added him my clownfish nipped at him for a minute til i took the net and kinda moved him away from the goby....i think im gonna lose the clownfish (i dont want this kind ne way) and get my percula as my last fish so i dont have to deal with ne problems....

My Golden Head Sleeper hides a lot under her rocks. She likes to come out when my MH are on and when I feed.. But once she got his house built and comfortable she's actually been quite funny. She loves to redecorate all the time..

Hope he'll be comfortable before long and making you laugh as much as my goby does for me.
