hi, i just transferred my freshwater fish that were in my 10gal to a 29 gal bow front to give them enough space to be healthy. i want to turn my 10gal into a saltwater for 1 or 2 fish. i have a heater, hood, light, gravel, and a whisper filter on that 10gal tank already. what do i need to do or buy to transfer it into a saltwater tank? and what fish would you recommend. thank you

for saltwater a small tank is not ideal because you have less water volume to buffer any imperfections, spikes, etc. with that in mind i would forget about the gravel and buy some carib sea argonite...reef grade is fine and imo stay away from the oolite. if you want it for just fish and no corals than i would get a couple of pieces of live rock...not the dense fiji but maybe some solomon's island rock to build tunnels or caves with. saltwater test kit, refractometer, salt, powerhead(s), mixing bucket, spare heater, nano skimmer

Thanks, the more i've been reading about salt, the more i want to wait and invest in a bigger tank to do it right, and use the 10gal for a single fish quarantine. I don't want to buy fish that i don't have a healthy environment for.

do as much research as you can first to see if it is something you want to get into. the equipment isn't cheap and you don't want to skimp on something that you will have to upgrade later.

You can do a nano in the 10g but yeah you'll want the 10g as a hospital tank as well so good move probably. In the meantime, this list might help:
