Is it an heavy rock? Someone wants to sell me 50lbs of lava rock and corals but I have no idea what it represents. 50lbs of the current rocks I have wouldn't be that much.
Don't put corals in your freshwater tank. 50 lbs isn't all that much...but it depends on the size of the tank. If you have a 20 gallon tank...it would take up MOST if not ALL of the thank.
Corals and live rock are for the saltwater realm of things. Lava rock on the other hand will be fine in a freshwater tank. How big is the tank in question and are we talking about a freshwater aquarium?
I think it is 50lbs of lava rock, he used to have a cichlid tank.
He wants to sell me his 20 cichlids plus the lava rocks for $75 but I'm not too interested in the fishes, I'd prefer getting mines but we never know, they might be beautiful fishes.
hi
i have lava rock in one of my tanks,it's a light rock, when empty
of water, and when you lift it out the water poors
straight out.it makes interesting mounds,i will echo the above,
don't put it in with burrowing fish.
shrimp are handy to have along with this rock,as they will pick out
any scraps of food from the holes that the fish have missed.
yeah its pretty lightweight.. they sell small gravel sized pieces at a lot of hardware stores.. it's a little bit like pumice, if that gives you any idea.
is the coral crushed coral? that might be what the seller is talking about... commonly used in cichlid tanks.
Aye, it is. 50lbs of lava rock and he is also giving the crushed coral. I phoned him and he told me there was about 10 rocks of lava rocks and that they were pretty big.
