Just my 2c, but I think you are ok as you are as long as you keep up with the water changes and don't add anything else. :)

i think your plans of cory cats, guppies, and two types of rainbows would be fine. nothing more than that, though. keep up with your water changes and you should be fine.

I'm glad everyone thinks this is good on stocking i love both of those rainbows and also seeing the guppies pair up!

the only thing i would warn against is trying to save al the guppy fry (babies). if you try and save them all, your tank will go from good to overstocked very quickly.

I think the stocking list is a bit overstocked. I think you are fine with the guppies and the cory cats but If I were you I would choose one or the other of the rainbows and then stick with that. Too many species in a 29 gallon will look overcrowded and too busy. it will just simply look and feel better with only one species of rainbow. This will also help with possible aggression issues as well.

Not to highjack this thread but figure its better than making my own. I plan to get a 29 gallon too and was wondering about this stock;
Zebra Danios - x3
Platy's - x3
Rasbora - x6
Gourami - x1
Anyone see any problems with this, or have any advice ?

This stocking list looks fine except for the gourami. What kind of gourami? I would only recommend a dwarf gourami in a 29. Also make sure to cycle the tank first and do not add all of these fish at the same time. Just go slow and you should be good to go.

Thinking about a Neon Dwarf Gourami. Calculated for 3 inches.

As long as it is in the dwarf variety I think it will be fine in your 29.

i would also pick one species of rainbows, preferably the threadfins. they are smaller and need less space than the Praecox. keep in mind though that they have pretty small mouths and need very small foods.

Thanks, I have done some research and i did see that they have small throats thanks for the advice, i might do threadfins and neons then.

The stocking level looks good to me . The zebra will school and look good together. Be careful with the gourami. Some are very aggressive and others are almost passive. With all the others being on the small side, if you get an agressive one it can do a lot of damage.

I looked in my tank and i only have 4 fancy guppies so that will help with the bioload

Aren't treadfins rainbows brackish. i know alot of LFS have them in fresh.
Neon rainbows would be good. There are also blue eyes that are small like treadfins. If you have soft water you could do a school of cardnail tetras (like big neons) and blue eys rainbows and maybe a dwarf grom. just a thought.

my lfs has threadfins with clown loaches right now who have ick... so those are out for now, cardinals are very fragile i've found but might be a good idea i really like the kerri or blue king tetra but i am having a hard time finding them

I think the rainbows need more than the 29. They are an active fish that love to swim. Get a 55.
