Have any of you had any experience using this brand of substrate? Im looking to change my substrate from CC to some kind of sand substrate and I liked the black color of this sand. Any info about this kind of sand or possible suggestions for a better type of sand substrate would be appreciated!

i haven't used that one, but it looks wicked cool and would really give a saltwater tank a different appeal to it.

As long as it has some pH buffering capabilites I would think its fine.

never come across anyone that uses it, however, after researching it, and saw this, i would be tempted not to use it...

Accent the vibrant hues of tropical fish with this ebony Tropic Isle Sand. Can be used in fresh or saltwater tanks. Will not affect pH. Extra Fine Grade.

We need the sand to be able to buffer the pH, not have no effect on it...else we shall end up manually buffering to aid the water..

Just a personal preference not to use it for me...

ah, there's your answer. I'd agree with axnikon. go with something with the pH buffers. it just helps that extra bit you know!

thanks for that niko. I just assumed it meant that it would buffer the pH. Do you guys have any preference of any other type of sand then? It doesn't have to be black either.
