This is my 90gal. The fish in here chow down on algae wafers, romaine lettuce and baby spinache. I've even had grapes disappear overnight. This makes me think I cannot have plants. As you can see. It needs them. are there any rugged or inedible recomendations? Some suggestions for silk substitutes? or some combination? I am new to planting, but REALLY want the look.

maybe more drifwood with lots of taiwan moss tied all over it? I think that would be hot. you already got something nice going with the wood. build on it. rocks with riccia netted on strewn across the bottom to give it some lighter green.

my guess is that if they eat lettuce and grapes, they'll eat the plants. don't know anything about your species.

I'm not familiar with the behaviour of the fish you have, but do you think they would leave java fern and/or anubias alone if secured tightly to your driftwood with some fishline?

I see in your sig. that you have silver dollars listed. As long as you have silver dollars in the tank a planted tank is not possible. They are a lawn mower service and will eat any and all plants. That includes the tough one like anubias and swords and the yucky tasting ones like java fern. They are indiscriminate and will eat all of them.

Yeah, I read Silver Dollars are plant munching fishies, but the severums never let them have a shot at the fresh veggies I put in.

The severums will probably have a go at the plants too.
