I have started searching for a new marine tank to upgrade my current one. I was originally aiming for a 90G and up but I happened across this setup:

* 55 Gallon Plexi tank
* Stand
* 280 Watt Ice Cap VHO lighting with Daylight and Actinic bulbs
* 175 Watt MH
* Aqua-C Remora Pro Hang on Tank Skimmer
* Programmable submergible heater
* Wet Dry sump filter
* Timers
* 50 lbs live rock fully encrusted with Coralline Algae
* live Aragonite sand
* Hermits
* Turbo Snails
* Brittle Star
* Pair of Ocellaris Clown's
* Fox Face
* Purple Tang
* Mushrooms
* Star polyps

All for $250

Does that sound like a good deal?

How much are they selling it for? Do they have a photo? The FoxFace and Tang will both need larger homes in my opinion.

Oops, sorry I can't believe I forgot to post the price :) They do have pictures. There isn't many corals but the tank looks decent (brown hood and finish). There rocks are also covered in purple coralline algae.

That is a great deal for $250 yes. Whether it is the deal for you depends..are you going to be happy with a 55 when you wanted something twice its size?

Thats my only concern. But I was looking at my stocking list that I was compiling and I realized that the fish I wanted wasn't large. My dream fish is a Blue Hippo Tang. I find them adorable. What level is the lighting considered? Am I very limited on corals? I think the Angel fish are beautiful (those are the only large fish I considered) but I want this to be a reef tank and they aren't reef safe so I had to through that stocking list out.

You'll want a 75 minimum for the hippo. 100g minimum would be better. My yellow is in a 55g and fine for now but I'm keeping an eye on him.

There are some that would buy the set-up and then part out what they didn't want to finance a larger tank and that isn't a horrible idea if you're up for the hassle.

Hm.. the parting idea does sound interesting. I guess I could run the tank for a while and see if I still want a larger one. I can always just get a bigger tank and move the livestock and light fixtures. I might even be able to do some sort of trade in.

Thanks for all your help. I will see how things go. I still have a couple of questions to ask seller.
