what protein skimmer do you have and whats wrong with it?
What problems are you having? What kind is it? What are the specs of your system?
I originally had it in my sump underneath the tank.. i kept getting alot of air bubbles and it would overflow for no apparent reason... Then i moved it to the top and hung it off the side.Still keeps overflowing.. It will run fine for a while then it acts up. Its a coralife super skimmer

Believe it or not, that's normal. After you set the water level 30 minutes later it will rise. So set the water level low inside the skimmer, it will rise a bit. Also, the water level inside the sump has an impact on the water level inside the skimmer. So keep it in a place in the sump where the water level is constant.

So true,It might take a while to get it at the flow you want, also adding more air will slow the flow down, might need to do a little mod to get it working the way you want.Does it have a needle wheel?,if yes,do the mesh wheel mod, very easy and very affective. You wont believe the diff.
thanks for the help i'll let you know how i make out
Totally agree. I fitted my skimmer in the sump before it even was a sump and build a special compartment for it to ensure that the right level is maintained, also took a while in the beginning to fine-tune oxidation. Now it works ok.:)

Did some pvc modifications with the output of the skimmer. I eliminated the diffuser and cheap hose that they give you and replaced it with pvc tubing and a round sponge at the end to composate for the bubbles. ran great all night... no floods lol thanks everybody for your responses.........dp
