One of our Red Zebras seems to be ill. He has some kind of white patches on his side. It does not appear to be fuzzy or fungus-y - perhaps it is slimy? He also has some deterioration of his tail fin, and has red patches on his gill covers. I was unable to get my camera to cooperate in focusing, but here are the best pics I could get. We have tried all of our books, and Pandora's site is down - I've done a web search and cannot find anything other than ammonia poisoning that would account for the gill issue - the parameters are
Ammonia 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 40
temp - 78 F
We have tried to capture him to put in in the QT, but our rocks offer such lovely hiding places that we cannot catch him without taking the whole tank apart.
Anyone have any idea what this might be and if it is contageous? None of the other fish are showing any signs or symptoms. we have at least 9 fry in the tank and they all seem fine as well.
We think this guy might have had a fight with the male kadango last week, but we are not sure
