I got a pair of kribs on the saturday morning just gone, along with 4 rosey barbs, everything was looking good, no aggression whatsoever. Everyone was eating fine and swimming happily round the tank, the kribs were peacefully swimming togethor. But on Sunday night I noticed my female krib wasnt swimming round all that much and was hovering pretty still in the same spot on one of my rocks. I didnt think much of it because the light had been turned off for quite some time and I figured it was pretty normal for a small cichlid to hang in a cave at night. Monday morning I turned the light on and all the fish were doing great except I couldnt see the female anywhere. Again I wosnt overly concerned at this stage, she was just hiding somewere i thought. But when I got home from school I checked the tank and discoverd the female lying on the bottom of the tank stone dead. All the other fish were fine and the male was swimming around nicely grazing on anything.

Im not sure what happend? Everything was fine, obviously not? I thought the male might have killed her, but I couldnt see any signs of damage to her?

Any ideas as to what happend? thanks in advance!

did you test your water to see if there was ammonia?

How did you acclimate them?
I dont think acclimation would affect them 2 days later.

ps. no further casualties as yet, all is well for now anyway.

maybe it was just due to stress?
