Are those "bugs" or glass anemones/aiptasia? :shudder:
I had assumed they were bugs, but maybe not. The bodies are "fuzzy" not many tentacles. They were all over the back wall of my tank, and I think I scrubbed them off (that's why they are in my sump :wall: ).
If they are aiptasia: Can I put a few hermits in the sump to take care of them? I actually have two sumps, and they seem to have inhabited both of them. My main tank looks to be pretty clear.
I got some better pictures today. I don't notice that they move, and they are usually attached to something. They have a fat, kind of fuzzy looking body with short tentacles at the top:
I couldn't get any shots of the slimey stuff. It's mostly floating on the surface, and I would not have even noticed it except that I dip into my sump to get my water for testing. It looks kind of like the eggwhite that comes out of an egg when one breaks in boiling water.
I looked, and there don't seem to be many of these buggers in my main tank. Do I assume something up there is eating them? Would you toss a few hermits in your sump and see if they'll eat them?
