I have had him for, I guess, four months. So its not dropsy or whatever. Its how he is shaped. He is a spear with tiny fins. I took these pictures at night/early morning when he was sleep drifting. His butt tends to bob upwards when he sleeps so thats why he is facing down a lot. I don't see any other pearlscales shaped as spherical as he is. Will he grow out of it? Is he just misshapen?

he is like a ping pong ball with head and fins!!! that is soo coool!!!!!

It's common for the extreme shaped fancy goldfish to have swim bladder issues, other than keeping the water in the tank as calm as possible so they aren't struggling with the current there's not a lot you can do.

I had goldfish live for years with flotation imparements.

Having owned goldfish for many years, I dont see that yours is any more round than most other pearlscales.

If you notice that he has trouble swimming straight during the day, try feeding your goldies boiled, skinned peas for 2-3 days. That'll clear up his swim-bladder.

This type of goldfish is really round if raised and fed properly. Check out these swimming golfballs from Indonesia :D

Wowie! Those are some round fish! I don't have any experience with fancy goldfish, just common ones. However, as I compared the picture of your fish with the pictures hin_chung posted, it looks like your fish’s head is disproportionate to its body. It might just appear that way to me because of the angles at which the photos were taken, but your fishes body looks like it's smaller than it should be, like it's head grew but it's body was stunted. Maybe that's why the fish is so spear like???

He passed away last night. He wasn't a very smart fish. My mom who is a special ed teacher said he seemed to be "special". He would always try to swim through the glass all day. He would also get stuck in the corners of the tank. This would cause him to hurt his eyes and they would swell a bit. I would treat him for pop eye but this last time his eyes got really bad and he got clear sacs under them. I kept treating using 2 meds and a antibacterial food. He didn't make it though. :(
