Hi Everyone,

Last night I did a PWC and decided to rinse off one of the sponges in the old aquarium water. I have had the tank running for approx 2 months, 2 1/2 months. The sponges look exactly the same as when i first bought them, and i (dont kill me) did a fishy cycle. I would have assumed that by now I would have seen a nice buildup of gunk, dirt, etc.. My readings are fine, I just want to make sure that the filter is doing its job.. I have been doing PWC's almost every day since the tank started to cycle, maybe that is why i am not seeing anything, but I just wanted to check with other people who have this particular filter. Thanks. I also have the bio-balls, and they looked the same too, along with 2 sponges.

There should be some sign's of normal use..........:)

I honestly am not sure whether the old tank water was dirtier than normal.. I guess i am being anal, my tank water is clear, my reading are good, i guess i just expected to see all this stuff on the sponges. I will pay more attention next time.. :) Thanks..

I have an AC50 on my 20G. I've found that most of the gunk ends up below the sponges in the very bottom of the reservoir.

****, I dont think i checked under the sponges.. Thanks for that piece of advice!
