I have a 10gal tank that I use to use for turtles when I was young. the tank is still water tight and everything and in very good condition.
could I transform that tank into into a sump/refugium for my 30gal or it's too small???
what do you guys think.

Probably if you don't want to put a skimmer in it.
It should be fine... The sump for our 90g was made out of an old 15g tall. Our skimmer fits in there just fine. We have a separate refugium that I made out of a 20g.
I agree, you'll get some use out of it. If want a skimmer and get one with a narrow footprint such as the Urchin you'll even have room for it.

Or you can use a hang-on skimmer like a berlin.

I used a 20 gallon as a sump/refugium for my 55 gallon. It really helps out on the water quality and I love it. I went with that size since it was the only thing that fit in my cabinet.
