can the bacteria that grows in and on live rock, be grown on other objects? If i had submerged bioballs for instance? would they not harvest this same bacteria? if ammonia is present wouldnt they grow?

Yes, the bacteria will grow on every surface that is in the tank. Live rock has a very large surface area, that means plenty of room for the good bacteria to grow.

yep... bacteria will spread onto whatever water comes into contact with.. we simply give the bacteria an area we have designated so we know they are there (and dont kill em)
