hi, im new here, im not exactly new to fishkeeping but id like some advice on this.
i just recieved a 110 L corner tank recently from somebody who had to get rid of it
it was stocked as follows:
5 black neons
2 harlequins
2 kribs
1 albino red tailed shark
anything else that i can put in with them?
ph in the area is 7.8 roughly but i placed bogwood in the 110L
not too sure about the kh reading tbh, get differing results with each test
oh and i have another tank, 90 L:
2 yellow labs
1 syno (not to sure what type syno, its dark brown in colour, around 4 in).
im well aware i will more than likely have to rehouse the syno.
any suggestions for this?
and should i keep the cichlids? they've never been much trouble.

1st, i would up the harlequins to atleast 6, as they are a schooling fish.
and then maybe you could add something else, but it'd be pushin it.
i'd keep it small... what'd ya have in mind?

and the neons too.... watch out for the red tailed shark as they get older they get really aggressive and might end up killing everything.

yeah i heard redtails get very aggressive but id say this one is nearly fully grown. hes been in the tank at least 2 years and hes about 4 in. all he really does is hide under the bogwood. any small synos i could put in this? or something for algae control? and as for harlequins i will add more eventually but my LFS doesnt always stock them.

Betta with a shark...eh...I wouldn't risk it. Once the RTS starts getting aggressive the betta would definitely not be able to handle it.
Angels could work but with a breeding pair of kribs and angels you would have a hand full...again, with the shark I wouldn't risk it...also may eat neons, is it the same with black neons though?
synos require groups but no experience there...
absolutely nooooo clown loaches!
cardinals could work, but like the neons they could end up being murdered by the shark...

why not Clown loaches? too big?
and as for the shark hes fully grown and doesnt seem to cause any problems.
im definitely considering angels but ive never had a lot of luck with them. doubt they would eat black neons tbh, theyre bigger than neons.

oh ok.....makes sense
if the red tailed shark isnt agressive, would a betta still be a bad idea?
how many angels should i buy if i do buy them?
any ideas for the 90 L?

The problem with the sharks is that the aggression starts at different times. I guess what I mean is that there is no certain age when a RTS will become a killer. Personally, I wouldn't take any chance, but it is still up to you. And if the shark sits at the bottom all day, I wouldn't really want it. Just my opinions...

ah i suppose id be better off with angels then. shame though, i love bettas. would the red tail be likely to bully angels or vice versa? and how many should i buy?
and if the redtail caused problems would it be possible to move him to the 90 L with the syno and the 2 mbuna? or would that be a seriously bad idea?

I think the rts would have a go at the angels first. Angels aren't nasty until they breed.
90 gallons would be fine for the rts. What type of mbunas do you have? I recommend more than 2 in 90 gallons of water...

actually its 90 L...nearly 24 gallons
yellow labs, 2 of them. but what mbuna could i put in with them without problems arising? i think im pushing it even having quieter mbuna in a small tank like that.

and as for angels, would i be pushing it by putting them in a 29 gallon?

Probably not...I actually wouldn't put the rts with the mbuna in a 24 gal. Too much aggression in such a little space, even for cichlids.

yeah, theyd probably get vicious aswell then....id end up dealing with a bloodbath..hopefully he wont turn vicious in the first place.

ok the tanks have been changed around a bit now.... turns out i was wrong, i have a red finned shark as opposed 2 a redtail. kribs have been moved in with the labidochromis caerelus in the 24 G temporarily....
Tanks are now stocked as follows:
24 G:
2 Labidochromis caerelus
1 syno (not sure of type)
2 kribs
29G:
3 Black Neons
2 Harlequins
1 Red Finned shark
1 Betta
I would like to have one of the smaller plecs in the 29 G for algae control. would this be possible?
as well as that would any of these go well in the 29G?
Keyholes
Cardinals
And would i be able to mix cardinals and angels?
