A relative gave me fish that look identical to mosquito fish; however, they are in complete saltwater and in a tank with a couple of puffers and snappers(those are just babies). Is it even possible for it to be mosquito fish, or is there a sw fish that looks like them?

Welcome to Aquaria Central!
Do you think you could get a picture for us to see to help you out? Or maybe a link with something that looks like it?
Thanks,
Hoping to help you out, and extending the welcome to our community again,

I would, but the right click on my mouse isnt working right now, but if you just look at any picture of mosquito fish online, its identical. Now some livebearers(as mosquito fish are) such as mollies can be changed over to sw over time, do you think this has happened here? Sorry for the trouble, I'm just trying to identify fish in my tank.

whether its been converted into sw tank, the origional owner should be able to fill you in on the back ground of how they got it there....
The mosquitofish is part of the Poecilidae family, and plenty of these have been converted into full saltwater systems...so, simple answer would be yes, there is no reason why they could not live in a marine aquaria.....The question would have to be..For how long can it live? that is the part which is never documented for this one....
Hope that helps...
