Can you use pulverised or pelletized limestone in a DSB? I thought I read somewhere that it is possible but I can't remember if I did or did not. I would like to use about 15% in my DSB(if it is possible)

I'll break from my hiatus to say that Crushed coral, Gravel, or anything that resembles that will set yourself up for failure, The critters that make live sand live cannot live in there and you will get muck and gunk under things which will slowly poison your tank, go with sand or bare bottom

pulverized into a sand would work fine. but i agree that you arent goign to want to do crushed coral.

I would not use CC or OS.:)

I have about 60 lbs of sand already(30lbs of it live sand) and I wanted to add 15 lbs of pulverized limestone with it.

Would pellitized limestone work as well or is that too large?

i would say since its not making up your entire sand bed, the finer the better. Meaning i would use pulverized.

Limestone is calcium carbonate just like live rock is, so its a good thing to have in the tank really, still not as good as LR, but it def. shouldn't hurt anything.

that is great. It is much cheaper than buying another bag of sand from the LFS also. I think it was around $6 for 50lbs or something like that.
