If I had bought a few plants that ended up being infested with snails, instead of killing them in bleach or something, could you put them in the tank, and add something to kill them? Ive heard cooped kills them...but what would you use to dose cooper? Would cooper hurt the plants? I would set up the tank, add the plants and leave it without fish for a while to see how it does, but if I get snails I was just wondering what to do if they already infested the tank.
thank yaaa

its better to get rid of them first if you dont want them. i for one like snails very helpful i think. yes copper can kill then but once copper is in the tank it stays in the tank. it will leach into the silicon then back out. wont be able to keep shrimp or anything like that.

:iagree: I would get rid of them if they were unwanted. You could just buy a small acrylic tank or a small glass tank and use it for plant quarantine. After bathing the plants in the copper filled tank, put them into another tank with dechlorinate the plants. I don't know if this is what everyone would do, but this is what I would do if I had snails on my new bought plants.

Can you put them in a small tank with snail eating fish?

I would treat the plants like ohno said, once they are in your planted tank they are in there. But I have learned to embrace them. They do help keep some of the algae at bay and shift through the substrate to keep it health. If they get out of hand you know you need to feed less and you can always remove some of them by hand or by setting traps.

You could, if you put them into a larger tank. Stick the plant in with some Clown Loach or Puffers. They might not see the snails if they are pond snails or it might just be harder.
