white lunar lighting

I have just recently purchased a white lunar light for my 75g SW tank. I would like to include it in my lighting cycle daily.. Does it matter if I put it on during the day or at night??

I think some keep them on 24/7 and some alternate nights that they are on to mimic the lunar cycle to promote spawning.
