Hello all I am having a problem with green Hair/fuzz Algae in my 20 gallon Nano reef tank. In my other tank i simply got a lawnmower blenny to solve this problem. I cant get one for this tank though its to small and it all ready has all the Fish i want in it.

any suggestions on how to get rid of this annoying Algae?

what type of water do you use? If you use tap you could have excess phosphates or nitrates that the algae is thriving on.

I don’t know my nitrates but I would imagine they are pretty bad. I just started a new job and have not had time to do a water change in almost a month (I just did one today though)

I don’t use tap water. I use pre made saltwater from my LFS. They make it the day b4 and use DI water from what they tell me.
what would you recommend for crabs and snails. so far I have one emerald crab and 5 dwarf blue leg hermits

The water change should improve things. Regular small volume, good quality water changes are the best way to keep your system free of nutrients and therefore algae. Also, instead of just putting a fish in to fix the algae problem, it's better to find the source of the problem and fix it.

You should also test the saltwater you buy and see what nitrate level is in there...10% weekly water changes is a good plan to run to...Also test for phosphates. While your trying to get to the bottom of what is causing it, a good way to keep it inder control is to add more blue or red leg hermits as this is one of their primary food sources..

All right awesome :D thanks for all the help guys. I will go to the LFS and by some more red/blue leg hermits and pick up a phosphate test. and i should be able to get back into my weekly water changes now :D i will post some pics once things clear up and it look good again.
