I would like your input please.
Fish #1: small (2-3" adult), schooling, and colorful fish that won't tear up Lilaeopsis brasiliensis from small gravel.
Fish #2: larger (6-10" adult), good personality, low aggression, and versatile eater (flakes to shrimp cubes).
Any ideas? I really want to keep my plants but would like to satify some other visual desires as well..

White Cloud Minnows are cheap, hardy and very colourful with the white fin tips and red tail. They get about 2", school well and are very peaceful, plus don't care about plants excpet if they want to breed.
I've got two tanks with large schools of Cardinal Tetras in them. I love their color and they are great with plants. Recently I got a school of Rummy Nose Tetras and they have a really great personality. Very friendly. The thing I like most about them is that they school so tightly. It's almost like one large fish because they stay so close together.

I have rummynose tetras and angels in a 75g. As djlen says, the tetras are fun to watch as they school really well. Mine stay at the front of the tank a lot too, mostly doing laps. I figured they swam about 1 1/2 miles per day, which tells you perhaps more about me than them :)
Angels are very beautiful but can get a little rowdy within themselves. It's like having a juvenile street gang sometimes. The angels caused a little damage to one plant recently - but they were cleaning it for a spawning. I figured it was a fair tradeoff.

Timmain, I didn't get what size aquarium you have but, a large school of Cardinal Tetras would look awesome! Get small fish so they will 'grow in' and be around longer... Sometimes it's hard to size up young fish as compared to adults.
For large sized 'semi-schooling' fish that are fine with plants ---
Discus it is.. ! IMO :)

It won't be cardinals, I'm afraid. I've seen the comment before that "you can either keep cardinals, or you can't." I fall in the 'can't' group. :(
Thanks for the suggestion tho.

how about some Rosy Barbs, Gold barbs, albino Tiger barbs or how about emperor tetras, Buenes Ares tetras. Giant Danios? But as for large fish go, there are not to many that will not rip up a tank. I would recommend angels as your large fish, if you do decide.
