rocks and gravel 4 120 gal tank

I wanted to if I can use any rocks and gravel I find for my tank. All my lfs don’t have much selection and high prices. I think I would put it in a holding tank before so I can make sure its not adding its own mix into the water. i plan on having a planted tank.

anyone know if any good kind of rocks for plants?

If you're going with gravel type of substrate, go to Home Depot (or Lowe's or Menard's or whatever home improvement store is in your area) and you can buy bags of pea gravel for about $4 for about 50 lbs. Lots cheaper than the gravel you buy at Petco, Petsmart or LFS.

thanks i just did that today. i think i got all the sand and gravel i need for only 5 bux

My lfs sells redfint gravel bulk at $.25 a pound in three sizes 3/8" 1/4" 3/16" and sand all match.
