View Full Version : Bull dog faced pleco
Has anyone ever heard of them? If so can you tell me anything about them? Like how big they get. Or any other info such as water parameters, tank size, etc, would be appreciated.

I would go to planet catfish and look up your pleco there. So many common names are interchangeable and used willy-nilly when it comes to fish. If you cannot identify it there is a thread there where if you posts pics of it they can help you do si

Your bulldog faced pleco is probably a rubbermouth pleco. Rubbermouths are omnivores. They grow to about (from what I've researched) 5" to 10". I own one also. Rubbermouth plecos are great at cleaning algae off tanks. They survive well with pretty much all fish (with their armor plating, its pretty hard for other fish to hurt a pleco) except other plecos, piranhas and gars (actually, pretty much no fish survives well with those.) If you don't have any algae in your tank, they also eat zucchini and cucumber. Feed them frozen foods like bloodworms or glassworms also. They require very clean (but cycled) water with high aeration and fast moving currents. Medium to cold water is preferred. You should also provide some driftwood for chewing on. Rubbermouth plecos are vey hard to breed.

rubberlip plecos can be territorial around food, especially towards other bottom dwellers. other than at feedng time though, they are pretty peacful.
