Been reading quite a bit lately about people adding aquarium salt to thier freshwater tanks. I used but have since stopped. I was just reading more fishy articles and they as well mentioned salt and I got to thinking about live plants. What impact, if any, would adding salt to an aquarium with fishies and live plants have?

IMO I would not add any salt to any freshwater tank unless it was for med. reasons. (ich for example). Some plants are more tolerable to salt than others.
Google aquarium plants and salt.....

Good luck.

There are brackish fish that require *marine* salt for overall health and there is a very short list of aquarium plants that can adapt to brackish waters. Other plants will not do well in water in which salt has been added.

I've always added salt to my tanks for my fish health. I just have a LOT less outbreaks of illness of any sort, with salt in the water. Never had a problem with the plants I keep, although I've never been able to keep real thin grassy plants or small val's, and who knows, maybe it's the salt.
