I've had tons of egg clusters in the past month or so and I've scraped off all but one so as not to be overpopulated. Anyway, my daughter's friend had pointed out to me the day before yesterday that the eggs had turned a grey colour and so I said we would continue to watch and see but not to be disappointed if no babies come. And today we have babies dropping into the tank! They appear white, almost clear. The mother I know for a fact is purple. She'd been busy with a variety of coloured boys - purple, pink, blue, ivory and gold - so I have no idea what colour these babies might eventually turn. It should be fun to watch them develop and change over the next month or so. Eventually I'll need to get rid of them so they'll be available in Hamilton/Ancaster, Ontario to anyone interested when the time comes.

Hello! I take it you have been doing this for a while! My snail (i have been calling it a 'he') laid a nest of eggs a few weeks ago, last week the thing detached from the wall and fell in, can these snails lay infertile eggs? Seems to be what the case is.

Yes, egg laying snails can and do lay eggs that have not been fertilized.

Just a quick update - my snail babies are about 2 weeks old now and doing very well. Still quite small but eating non-stop and growing well. There are definate purple hues on some, blue on others, some appear ivory and some look to be turning yellow. They are in a 5 gallon tank which is shared with a single baby platy who is not yet big enough to risk putting in with adult fish who still might eat him. I'll be looking for local homes (Hamilton, Ontario) for them when they are big enough to go...

I also have a 2 week old batch of mystery snail babies that are growing and thriving. I only have a 3 gallon tank and need to figure out what to do with these snails. My local fish stores don't seem to want them. Any ideas?

^^ Not gonna lecture you on having a plan ahead of time...but you should have had a plan ahead of time. :raspberry:
I've found that if you post them here for free if buyers pay shipping, and you read up on the proper shipping techniques on this forum, you shouldn't have much trouble on getting rid of them. They don't live forever and therefore those of us who love 'em will always be getting more. Wait untill they are at least the size of a pea, and with a tank that small you're gonna need to do lots of water changes as they grow. They put out quite a bit of waste. By the way....welcome to AC!
