I recently got a 60 gallon oceanic tank that matches my 200 gallon. I am setting it up underneath it, by taking the doors off.
I have seen tropheus duboisi maswa as both juvies and adults. I think they would be a great species only tank.
I have read a little bit about these and I plan on asking more questions.
I have read that it might be better not to have rock work, so none of them claim a spot. I would just have lots of fake plants.
I also would get all the fish for the tank at once. I am thinking 15. I am fairly sure I would need to remove some males as they got older.
Any comments on this would be helpful. I am still reading, so any links would be good.

Have you visited cichlid-forum.com? That's pretty much the place to ask questions about cichlids...

For whatever reason, I am having trouble with that site even coming up.
It also appears there as many thoughts on keeping these as there are people keeping them.
I am thinking if I do have rock work, it would be best to have small unique groups or pieces of rock and that each male will establish a spot.
I am thinking it would be good to have some sort of "dither fish". I am thinking danios (or even glowfish danios), but I am not 100% sure which fish make good "dither" fish and if I need them.
I was hoping there was someone here that has these fish. There is a good article about breeding them, I do not want to breed them, but do want them to be healthy enough to want to breed.

Sorry. Never had them. But from what I know, you are heading in the right direction. Groups of 12-15 are good and yes, males will be territorial.
See if this article loads...

The words loaded, for some reason my connection at work is messing up. No pictures are graphics.

I have a 60g oceaninc tank with 7 tropheus duboisi maswa (juvies), 7 moorii kachese, 1 black calvus, 2 Lamprologus brevis Mtoto zebra, 1 daffodil brichardi and 2 lelupi firecrackers. I've had them about 7 months and the maswa are not as agressive as the kachese. They are schooling fish and swim mostly on the top half of the tank and only harass like kind. If you overstock them they can spread themselves thin. Be sure not to give them too much protein. I made homemade food in the processor with garlic, peas, zucchini and raw shrimp, froze it and give that to them once a week, they LOVE it. The reason being I wasn't aware the Calvus needs protein, that way I can provide his proper diet and the maswa have a little variety. They're a lovely fishy. Check out Dave's Rare Aquarium Fish that's where I purchased mine and they shipped fine.

I just found a video clip of my tank if your interested. They like the rock work and doesn't seem to promote any agression.
