i guess this is sort of part 2 of my other post.....

what's the smallest cichlid that has the best colors?

something that's bright and/or pretty.

i'm looking into what i can put into a couple tanks, but i want the serious dwarfs. i think i want a couple of dwarf colonies somewhere down the road after they breed. :)

Most apistogramma fit that bill....I like Agassizi myself. :) Rams are also another good option..

Lamprologus species from Lake Tanganyika are probably the smallest and most colorful cichlid. There are several varieties, but the L. Oscellatus are beautiful fish. They stay about 1.5-2" in size.

nanacara sp., laetacara sp.. german rams, apistos,
nanochromis transvestitus most grow to around 2.5" max
some smaller.

depends on what you're interested in.

He's pretty mean (has even bit me once, but his teeth are too small to do much more than grab a little)... colorful and not too big... I have him alone in a 10g:
