Okay, so I've been reading on sponge filters and powerheads.. I'm trying to decide on getting another filter just to have some extra filtration.. I really like the sponge filter, but I won't like how the bubbles come up.. it'll be too loud for me.. and I don't need additional current, there is PLENTY of current and water agitation in my tanks..

I currently have the following setups, what would you recommend as an additional filtration? I want a mechanical/bio type of filter...

20Long Community - 1 Betta, 5 Corydoras, 5 Rasboras, 1 ADF, 15 Ghost Shrimp, 1 Pleco..
Filter - Penguin 150 + airstone(10" stick)

55 Gallon Flowerhorn tank - 6 FH Fry (1-2" fry)
Filter - Penguin 250, Whisper 30-60, Penn Plax Cascade 300, 2 airstones(12" stick and 1 small)

Anyway I can get a sponge filter that doesn't produce loud bubbles? Kind'a like an airstone?

you could try powering a sponge filter with a small powerhead instead of air.

Have you thought about a canister filter? They are very quiet (the Eheim's anyway) and work great.

Is this for the 20gal or 55gal?

well it looks like from your description that you are already using air stones so is this going to replace that or adding to that?

Only powerheads available that I can get are Penguin 660's.. 170GPH rating.. are those too strong? Basically, I just want a sponge filter that sucks up debris pretty well.. minus the big air bubbles.. something like an airstone bubble stream.

debris..? canister

extra bio filter....sponge
