The Angels will eat the more common shrimps ppl get such as RCS and Ghosts. Which shrimps are talking about?

Cories and Otos make excellent tankmates for shrimp.

cherry shrimp or rcs , was what i was thinking , i got lots of algae with my new light so there would be plenty of food . there are also lots of plants and other hiding spots for them . the angel is just about quarter size right now .

I've had amanos and otos with tetras, cories and bettas. No problem with aggression from the tetras or cories. Bettas seem to be YMMV (your mileage may vary). My female betta is the alpha female of the tank, but my amano shrimp and otos have plenty of places to hide from her. She's a brute!

I was going to ask this on a new thread but thought it was a similar question I had to the originator.

I have just updated my tank - mainly due to 2 fish dying following a move and an algae problem.

I have added 2 cherry barbs to my one remaining odessa barb. They are getting on well - my Odessa was pleased to have some company once again.

As I had an algae problem, I wanted to get an algae eater. I saw my fishstore had shrimps in with the cherry barbs, so asked for one as they said they were compatible.!

However, the shrimp disappeared within 10 hours of buying it! So I went to get a new one but was given 2 new ones (both doing fine)!

2 questions:
Would my Odessa barb have eaten it or could the shrimp have jumped out of the tank (through a small gap in the lid).

Is my tank overstoked with 2 shrimps + the 3 barbs?

In a 5g, your far too overstocked with the fish. Cherries need a tank of 15g+, and I'm not sure about odessas, but I think I heard they get to 2-3", so a 20g minimum for that one.

If you gave away the odessa, you could have 5-6 cherries in the 15g and the shrimp, but if the odessa only gets 2" or so, you may be able to keep it. I think the shrimp would pay though.

And for the OP, I think all of those would be fine except the angels. No matter what their current size is, be it a dime, nickel, quarter, they'll grow big enough to eat neons, which are way more of a mouthful than a compact shirmp.

well, amano shrimps are larger, but I have found in my experience, that Ghost shrimp stand there ground better. I have had some Ghost shrimp that would literally face right up with a slightly aggressive GBR, that had killed my amano shrimps.

Cheers Dwarf Puffers!

I thought I would be overstocked.
The fish store said the cherry barbs would get to 4cm and the odessa about 5cm. At the moment, the cherries are about 2cm and my 9 month odessa is about 3.5cm.

What do you mean the shrimp will pay? Die due to being eaten or overstocking?
