Otos and Green Spot Algae

Do otos tend to eat green spot algae? I don't want to get too thorough with my cleaning if they'll eat it since, well, it seems silly to take food away from otos, but if they'll ignore it until they're starving I'd just as soon keep it off my glass as much as I can.

I'm guessing 'mag float' means 'use a scraper'? All I remember about those things is that they were a royal PITA to get off the bottom of the tank when they dropped, or to move them onto a different pane of the glass. Although if they make floating ones now I might give one a shot again. That may distrub my plants less than the handled scrubber I have now.

I have no problems scraping algae, I just didn't want to remove oto food.
