Can I use small amounts of normal fertilizer for my aquatic plants instead of those overpriced small bottles sold at pet stores?

What do you mean by "normal fertilizer"????

Only fertilizer meant for aquariums!

You can by dry ferts from rexgrigg.com. It will save you a lot of money over the premade stuff sold in stores. While you are there read his site. It will give you a lot of good info.

I would deffinatly not do it, im sure there would be things in normal ferts that are no good for fish.

Some fertilizers contain a wetting agent to help carry it through the soil. I'm guessing some form of detergent, which is probably not a good thing to put in an aquarium.

No, they aren't safe for your fish.
