Making powerheads less noticeable

I love my tank but I hate how the powerheads and the heater look in the tank. Does anyone have any great ideas about how to make them less noticeable without making them not function how they should?

Depending on the power head, you could drill holes in your tank and install two bulkheads at different heights. Then run tubing from one bulkhead to the "in" on your power head / pump and run tubing from the "out" to the other bulkhead. That way you could hide them and still get the same functionality. But if you crack your glass tank drilling the bulkhead holes with a dremel, you could be in A LOT of trouble.

As for the heater, it's kinda hard unless you have a sump. But I placed mine out of the "normal" viewing area.

If you go decide on the route riverserver suggested, you could also place an inline heater on the output for one of the powerheads...

DIY conversion for your existing heater:http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123595

Or simply buy an inline heater:

You can run all the plumbing for a closed loop (what is being suggested here) over the top of the tank, no need for holes and bulk head. Also, almost every tank that I have seen with a closed loop has one large pump with several outlets.

A sump can house all your filtration and similar equipment, and if you use a large enough pump with several outlets in the display you won't need any powerheads.

You can also get a vortech powerhead.... bassically with this pump, instead of having both the motor and propeller or impeller in the display, only the prop section is in the display, and the motor is on the other side of the glass. Most people will only ever need one of these pumps in there tank - they put out 3000 gph (and come with a controller to turn the flow down if needed). There pricey though.

Yes, I realize that I can't make them invinsible.......I have thought about hiding them behind decorations but I guess with my question I was looking for more info on how people have done that. I have thought about putting them behind rocks but do they need space around them. thank you for the suggestions I've never heard about an inline heater. I would love to get the vortechs later on$$$$.

I find if you turn them upside down and put them at the back behind your rocks either facing towards the front or sides. They work the same upside down, but because you can put them on the bottom, they can't fall or suck sand into them

that's a great idea I've never thought of that. I also have a hydor koralia 3 would that work with this powerhead?
