my light??

I am very novice but am wondering do we leave the light on all the time or turn it off at nigght or what? I am not sure so thanks in advance for the help
 
If you leave it on too long you will get the thrill of trying to deal with a lot of algae. Unless you are trying to grow plants, put the light on when you are home and want to watch the fish. It will be enough for the fish and will probably not be enough to cause algae problems.
 
well I do at some point want one of the algea eater fish but am afraid he wont have enough to eat and really am not sure when to add him either.
 
The longest I would leave the light on is 10 hours, any longer will really promote algae growth, and if you do get an algae eater you can always give him supplemental things, wafers, cucumbers and such.
