This is a couple of months into my 10 gallon tank project. It's not perfect, but it's getting there.

Please give me some feedback.

Thanks.

I like it & I agree a dark background would be good. Are those all swords? It may be a jungle if they get any happier.

What kind of plant is that one in the middle? The low bushy looking one? (sorry im a noob ;) )

Not really sure what the stem plants are, as they were part of some kind of "5 plants for 5 dollars" deal I got at one point.

The bushy one is hemianthus micranthemoides though.

The plants on the surface are lemna minor, salvinia minima, azolla caroliniana and some kind of water lettuce (any help?).

I find that the floating plants greatly reduce the presence of algae. I had a metric f***ton of algae until they took off and now there is none. They also create shady spots and launchpads for the shrimp. The rasbora maculata seem to like it as well. If it starts to take over, just scoop it out.

Looks nice. I would say a background a maybe some hardscape.

Thought I'd add a few updated pictures to this thread. The Hemianthus micranthemoides is really coming in.

Well, you've got me jealous of your HC! I've never been good with ground covers.

When I look at your tank, I see very healthy plants - but that's about all I would see. It is also very 'right heavy' - that is, the attention is drawn right, instead of the tank as a whole. I would consider a second species of plant on the left, and also to do some hardscaping - that is, that plants on their own will not create the stunning effect that you can get with a good hardscape.

I agree with SQUEAK on the layout. The plants look very healthy and you have a nice variety too. Do you have plans for fish or inverts?

How about some driftwood or rocks? A background would be a big help. The plants look very healthy.

I'm done stocking the tank for now. It currently has a handful of amano shrimp and something like 30 red cherries, although there are quite a few females carrying eggs so that may change. I also have 12 dwarf rasboras in there. There are tons and tons of snails in there that are beginning to take over. I'm in the market for a small fish or crustacean that eats only small snails and doesn't require a school.I was thinking about putting a very small crayfish in there for a short period of time, but it will probably destroy the plants.

This tank has done pretty well considering that I rarely fertilize and don't inject CO2 anymore. Reducing the light from 3 17 watt tubes to 2 also helped out immensely with algae control.

I never used to like rocks/driftwood but now that I see that the pieces of java fern in the tank are starting to grow well, I'm beginning to consider it.

Great-looking tank :headbang2:

But I think it would also be nice to have a background of some sort and a large/medium-sized rock somewhere on the left portion on the tank.

But as I said, it's "something" already :headbang2:

I loved ur setting!

I was wondering if i could tell my oppinion! I will say it but like ive said its just an oppinion...

I think it would be great that uve have some focal point hardware! And i suggest some wood comming from inside that bushy side u have (the red plants) from the behing corner to middle...

The plants look great but u really need some "hardware"! :P

Nice looking tank, the plants are very lush. What kind of hood is on there? DIY or something commercial? Curious cuz I'm in the market for some kind of 10 gallon hood.

Looks great but I agree that a rock or some driftwood on the left and a background would finish it off nicely.

There is no hood, just two f17t8/65k bulbs in wal-mart fixtures and two mirror tiles on top.

I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do for hardscaping. I will definitely add some stem plants to the left side though. I think it will really start going when I inject co2.

Just wanted to give an updated picture of my tank. In my opinion, it has really grown in nicely.

I wish I had a better camera, this picture doesn't really do it justice.

Currently using 5.1 wpg, diy co2 with a glass diffuser and no added fertilizer.

The groundcover was called "baby tears" at the LFS.
