I got a couple of anubias today but I don't know which kind they are. Here is the pic: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/antonio2090/DSCN0948.jpg

I would say Anubias barteri v. coffeefolia

I would say you are going to have problems if that Rhisome is covered with gravel.

:iagree: Get the rhizome above the gravel, maybe tie it off to the driftwood peeking in the left corner or something. If not it will rot and cause the leaves to die off if it doesn't kill the whole plant. :wall:

Well, I think we all agree it's Anubias barteri adn that the rhizome needs to come out of the substrate.

Now to the variety... According to http://www.aquariumplants.com I see 2 contenders

Coffeefolia
Height 15-25 cm
Width 10-+ cm

Round Leaf
"Leaves are twice the size of an Anubias barteri v. "Nana".

My money's on Coffeefolia.

it might be...... Im not gonna bet on it though...
if you google Coffeefolia... that one singel plant can look so different...

Like in the pic you posted, the leaves are heading up... and in other pics, the leave just spread out in a lower y shape.. maybe it just depends on how the lighting is or something....

But yea, I think we all agree that they shouldn't barry the rhizome....

I agree mudskippers, I have seen Coffeefolia many times and even have it in my tank, the plant in question isn't Coffeefolia, in my oppinion anyway 8)

Here's a pic of my two plants.....the bottom one is Coffeefolia. The plant in question has larger leaves.

The larger one is a Coffeefolia just a bit older.

A. Coffefolia so far is the only Anubias with a 'wavy' leaf. I have seen a few specimens that look extremely like the one you have.

Congrats on getting such a nice plant.

I still think it's Anubias barteri v. barteri.

It is a larger plant and has the large leaves (like the first pic that I posted above) and the pattern on the leaves is highlighted by the camera and is not quite as defined as in coffeefolia.

Either way you have a very nice plant there. Both Barteri and coffeefolia are hardy low light plants that are beautiful and I recommend them anytime someone is looking for low light plants.

As the above posters mentioned, do pull it out of the gravel at least a little.
