I'm looking for a plant-friendly remedy for columnaris (or a related disease; white discoloration on body, usually along dorsal fin). I was told by my LFS that Maracyn-2 is plant-friendly, but I'd like to get your opinions as well. The tank is a planted 75 gallon with tetras, barbs, and such.

Anyone? I've almost lost my school of blue emperors and cardinal tetras. I want to treat them, but my plants are finally becoming established and I dont want to lose them now.

I just had the same disease in my tank, killed all of the new neons it came with as well as three harlequin rasboras. I managed to isolate it and treat it before I lost my whole tank.
I used maracyn 2, my lfs told me that's plant safe as well.

i used penicillin for my episode, don't think that would hurt the plants. might make a mess of the bio-filter tho.

maracyn and maracyn 2 will both work fine and its definatly your best bet for bacterial infections or fungal infections. Wont harm your plants and its bio filter friendly IME
