OKay, I will be setting up a FOWLR 75. I plan on getting about 90 lbs of LR. Ive been looking for pictures that will show me what that amount of rock will take up in the tank. Now look at these 2 pics.

if you scroll down on here there is a 75g tank with 90lbs of live rock. perfect right. Thats what I thought.

now I see this

thats 150lb with corals. Doesnt the one above look like theres more rock, when there is 60 lbs less. Man this hobby has me confused, right when you get something, another thing shows up and throws you for a loop. :thud:

The rocks might have different densities, or may be placed tighter/looser in the tank. Don't forget, that live rock isn't a rock by definition, so its going to be irregular (more so than rocks) in size and weight.

It really depends on what part of the world rock comes from. For instance Fiji rock is much more dense than Bali live rock, so 70lbs of Bali will take up much more space than 70lbs of Fiji.

true but the 75g with 150lbs of fiji would be 2lbs/gallon right? yet looks so bare. Now look at this thread here on AC.

granted its only a 30g, but with 45lbs that is 1.5lbs/g not as much rock yet takes up more space? confused.

Tank depth, length, and height will also play a role in how "full" a tank looks. If you want to be safe, order Bali rock.

If you order the super select you will get the best from all three. You can email them with a zip code and they will give you a shipping quote.
