Today, I do not love aquaria

So, to compound the gourami issues I am currently having, I noticed that mr. mysterious (my big blue mystery snail) seemed to have his foot stuck in the intake of my ac50 filter. I quickly turned off the filter and gave him a little tug. He fell off and I pulled him out to examine him. He is tucked in his shell, although I wouldn't say tightly. Now he has been floating for about an hour. Sigh....hopefully he will be ok. :thumbsdown: My fish and snails are not loving me back.

I had that happen to one of my snails too. It was pretty horrifying, he was releasing some sort of liquid (looked milky white) into the water. I was sure he'd die but he pulled through.

Hopefully your snail will make it too.

I'd recommend cleaning the filter intake regularly (my snail was trying to eat the plants that had been caught on it).

well, there were no plants on this intake, although it has gotten a bunch of redramshorn snails as well.....the filter is only on there to move to a qt for emergency. Perhaps I should cover it with some pantyhose. I hope mr. mysterious pulls through as well...he is by far my children's favourite and I am terrified to tell them what happened. Stinks to be scared of a 3 and 4 yr old!

Get some foam for an AquaClear filter. Cut a hole in the middle and slide it on the intake. Keeps inverts out and as an added bonus makes a good prefilter and bio mass.

one of my mystery snails got sucked into my python somehow, without me noticing.

I noticed a reduced flow, and pinched the line to release the rock I thought was stuck in it........ there wasnt much more than a shell, a trap door, and little meaty bit leftover.

I still feel terrible about that, I dont know how I couldnt have seen him :(
