I have been fishless cycling for around a week,There are some plants in the tank.
This morning i tested the ammonia it was down to 1.2 mg/l from 3 mg/l / PPM yesterday morning.I have just redosed to 3 PPM now.
The nitrites are around 3 mg/l and have been increasing steadily.
I also tested my nitrate and found that it is at between 50 mg/l and 110 mg/l looking at the color closer to 110 mg/l
All of these tests were carried out with a brand new Nutrafin master test kit.
I also tested the tap water and that reads at 10 mg/l
KH is at 4.5 and PH is at 7.6
Do these figures seem to be OK,as my understanding of the hole process was that I should not have any nitrates yet.
Can somebody please advise me if the cycle is going OK?
Never having done a fishless cycle before when I last kept fish it was always done via a fishy cycle.
I did use root tabs when I planted the tank as advised by the company I purchased the plants from, would this cause an increase in he nitrates?
Any help would be great.

The nitrates seem to be a tad high for just a week, but I wouldn't worry about it. What temp is the tank at?

Yeah that was my main concern is they seemed very high to me.
Tha tank is at 28 degrees C.
I was just concerned that it might cause a problem for plants.

If you already have ammonia going down, and nitrites going up, some nitrates aren't completley out of place. Just plan on doing a large water change to get rid of the excess nitrates after you cycle.
