but thought I'd look for some advice here, first.
We have decided to set up a 50 g aquarium -freshwater- When I had my 30 g
I had an angel, some kind of really cool orange and black tetras, some lemon tetras, and a little cory. After hours of looking at fish we are leaning toward the more calm angels-but- I have no clue as to whether I should get one or two- and what should I put with them? my last one did great with the tetras but he/she was really big by th time they were added and I want to start with a little angel.....I know some of the tetras can be nippy....
thanks,
J

i would get 2 angels and try to find some baby tetras

Really, the only tetras that aren't recommended with angels are neons and some commonly nippy species such as serpaes. Many people have had mixed result with those species, but there are a lot of nice tetras out there that are less of a risk IMO. Larger bodied species such as lemon, diamond, bleeding heart, ect. are perfect with angels...

Typically most ppl I know that have cichlids and wished for mating pairs or even just 2 that get along, get 3 initially and see who the aggressor is, or the odd one out and return this.

i have von rio flame tetras with my angels, and they completely ignore each other. no nipping from the tetras, no chasing or aggression from the angels.
